How to Style a Room with a Statement Wall Clock
A large clock can do the job of artwork — it fills a wall, adds shape and gives the room a focal point. A few placement rules make it look deliberate.
Where to hang it
- Above a sofa or console: centre it on the furniture, leaving 15–25 cm of space above.
- Hallways and entryways: at eye level, roughly 150 cm from the floor to the centre.
- Kitchens: on a clear wall away from steam and direct heat.
Let it lead the wall
A statement clock works best on a wall that is otherwise quiet. If you want a gallery arrangement, treat the clock as the anchor and build smaller frames around it with even gaps.
Tie in the finish
- Gold and brass warm up neutral and cream rooms.
- Black iron suits industrial, monochrome and wood-heavy spaces.
- Chrome and mirror finishes brighten small or dark rooms.
- Repeat the metal somewhere else — a lamp, frame or handle — so it looks intentional.
Scale over everything
Too small is the most common mistake. On a big empty wall, size up rather than down. See our large wall clocks to find your focal point.
